Operational Changes at Poplar Camp Beach for the 2024 Season

Opening day is this Friday for Poplar Camp Beach at Cedar Lake.

The City of Carbondale reports it will be open to the public seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Labor Day weekend.

In order to maximize these operating hours, Poplar Camp Beach is now a swim at your own risk facility. Lifeguards will be staffed based on availability and may not be on duty.

If you or your group will require a lifeguard, call 618-549-8441 to check the latest staffing information. Up to date lifeguard staffing information will be available on signs at the facility.

  • LIFEGUARDS WILL NOT ALWAYS BE ON DUTY! If you or your group require a lifeguard to be on duty during your visit, please call 618-549-8441 for up-to-date staffing information.
  • New operating hours will be 11 AM - 7 PM, 7 days a week!
  • Located a few miles south of Carbondale
  • Restrooms, picnic tables, and concessions are available
  • Single-day admission: $2.50
  • Children 4 years of age and younger are admitted free
  • Ten visits pass $20, or twenty visits pass $35
  • Passes purchased are suitable for the current beach season
  • Swimmers must exit the water 30 minutes before closing time
  • Open through Labor Day weekend
