The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the Jefferson County Historical Village and Mt. Vernon Police Department is creating a Criminal Justice historical display.
Officials say this project will honor and remember those who served in this county with corrections, dispatch, or policing.
The first goal is to establish a temporary display, with a long-term goal of planning and implementation of a permanent museum. The Sheriff’s Office will be collecting donations of pictures, newspaper articles, uniforms, gear, and equipment for this display.
Anyone wishing to donate to this project can bring items to the Jefferson County Justice Center Monday through Friday from 8am-4pm.
Organizers say with each donation, include a brief written description, the approximate years or time era it comes from. And they say with pictures, include in writing the name, rank, agency worked for, and years served.
