Due to an unexpected water main break in the City of Carterville, John A. Logan College officials have announced that the main campus in Carterville is closed.

The school also had to postpone the Glenn Poshard Poetry Reading and the GED Graduation Ceremony. A new date for both events will be announced in the coming days.

In addition to the main campus, Logan Fitness is closed today (Wednesday), and 24/7 access is suspended until further notice.

John A. Logan College will also be closed on Thursday to allow for the installation of a new electrical transformer. As a result, all in-person operations on campus will be suspended.

Officials say during this time, students in in-person classes should contact their instructor for instructions regarding assignments and remote learning.

Power to the main building on campus will be turned off and is expected to remain off through Friday.

This scheduled outage is necessary to complete electrical infrastructure upgrades and ensure continued reliability and safety on campus.

Power at Logan Fitness will not be affected. All Logan Fitness activities and scheduled events will continue as planned.

Normal operations are expected to resume on Monday, June 30, once electrical work is completed.
