Multiple projects in Jackson County are receiving federal funds through a bill advanced by the Senate Appropriations Committee.

$3.711 million to the Illinois Department of Transportation to fulfill ongoing transit needs, including vehicle and equipment purchases, maintenance, and other improvements for transit agencies serving Carbondale, Marion, and Danville.

$2 million to the City of Carbondale to help fund the development of a new homeless center facility in Carbondale.

$1.5 million dollars will go to the City of Carbondale to replace storm sewer piping. The failing pipes cause frequent flooding during significant rain events and is also causing pavement failures on a busy street.

$693,000 to Artspace 304 to make facility improvements for an economic hub.

$500,000 to SIU's Center for Teaching Excellence to revitalize learning spaces at the Carbondale campus and community colleges throughout southern Illinois.
