The Illinois Secretary of State's office is awarding nearly $1.5 million in library grants to southern Illinois libraries for FY-25 to ensure access to resources and programming.
The per-capita grants were calculated according to a statutory formula based on the population of each community, while the technology grants were awarded to help public libraries in underserved communities with needed technology enhancements.
Along with the new funding, Giannoulias’ office is also pushing legislation in the spring to enable the Secretary of State’s office to issue security grants for libraries throughout the state, so they can provide a safe environment for patrons, employees and the community.
