State Representative Patrick Windhorst is inviting amateur and professional photographers to take part in his annual “Southern Illinois is Beautiful” photo contest.
This will be the third year for the contest, which has drawn hundreds of submissions and thousands of votes from Southern Illinois residents.
The Metropolis republican says there are two categories again this year.
"Students up to age 21 can submit original photographs of their favorite, beautiful scene in southern Illinois as part of our student category.
Adults 21 and over can submit photographs in the adult category. Contest photos should be submitted via email to windhorst@ilhousegop.org by Friday, November 7, 2025 before midnight."
Photo submissions must include the photographers name and the location of the photo in southern Illinois.
Three finalists will be chosen in each category, and voting will be open on Windhorst's official Facebook page starting on Tuesday, November 11th. Voting will close on Tuesday, November 25th at 5pm.
Finalist photos will be made available on his official Facebook page for voting.
