The Illinois Housing Development Authority says it delivered more than $2.3 billion in housing investments during the last fiscal year, despite rising costs and limited inventory. The funding supported nearly 5,000 new homeowners, $965 million in mortgage financing, and $52 million in down payment assistance. IHDA also backed 45 developments creating or preserving more than 3,000 affordable rental units, including housing for veterans and individuals with special needs. Additional programs demolished or rehabilitated hundreds of abandoned homes and provided $63 million in emergency rental assistance to nearly 7,700 families facing eviction. Officials say the initiatives are strengthening communities and expanding access to safe, stable housing across Illinois.
