Southeast Missouri State University is establishing a scholarship in honor of George Floyd.
Southeast accepted a challenge from North Central University, a Christian university in Minneapolis, which called on every college and university in America to establish a George Floyd Memorial Scholarship in memory of the man, whose recent death in Minneapolis has spurred national discussion.
Southeast Missouri State University President Carlos Vargas tweeted he and his wife Pam were the first to contribute to the fund, which will be awarded for the first time this fall. The goal is $10,000.
