As Schools Nationwide Struggle For a Plan, Marion School Board Tackles The Details.

Parents, educators, and administrators are working across the country to figure out what school will look like this fall.  Marion’s Board of Education is still crunching the numbers.

Board members and parents discussed the pros and cons of the many details involved.  One big issue, how to serve lunches and stay  within the less than 50 people per gathering guideline.  One board member said it may not be practical, especially at the larger Junior and Senior High schools.

While all students will be issued a  Chrome book, one board member said there are many fundamental skills youngsters cannot learn from a computer.  On the issue of a hybrid school day, several parents strongly spoke out against it, saying many working families don't have easy access to child care.

The board agreed that some sort of hybrid day  is planned, with some combination of  in-person and online learning .

A final decision on what the school day will look like is expected this Friday, when a special meeting is planned.
