Enroll Now for Southern 7 Head Start Fall Classes

Southern 7 Head Start/Early Head Start is now accepting enrollments for the 2024-2025 school year. This program serves children from birth to age 5 living in Alexander, Hardin, Johnson, Massac, Pope, Pulaski, and Union Counties. Head Start is a comprehensive, no-cost child development program funded by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.

The program offers a variety of services, including education, school readiness, social services, health, and family involvement. It provides full-day classes and has dual enrollment with Pre-K, helping children develop kindergarten readiness skills. Additionally, children receive health, dental, and developmental screenings, participate in educational and social activities, and enjoy healthy meals and snacks.

Families involved in Head Start gain access to mental health services, parent engagement and training tools, and services tailored to children of all needs and abilities. Parents also have the opportunity to volunteer in the program.

To enroll in Head Start, you will need the following documents:

  • Child’s certified birth certificate
  • Current physical and shot records
  • Proof of family income (one month of pay stubs, 2023 W2’s, taxes, TANF, SNAP, or SSI)
  • Professional documentation if your child has a suspected disability for additional selection criteria points
