WIC helps families afford healthy foods.

Despite the federal government shutdown, Southern Seven Health Department says its Head Start and WIC program services will continue as usual until they are told otherwise.

Southern Seven says WIC is open and operating in Illinois and expects to have resources through the end of this month.

Officials say Head Start is expecting funds to continue through the end of this year.

They stress there are no planned program changes at this point.
