This Saturday the non-profit Keep Carbondale Beautiful is sponsoring a native tree and plant sale. Marisa Szubryt holds a master's degree from the Plant Biology Department at SIU-C and says, native plants provide food for many local creatures, and you don't have to have a huge acreage.
"And so a lot of the plants you put them in the ground give them a little bit of water at the start, and they can pretty much take care of themselves."
The sale will start at 9:00AM this Saturday, at the Town Square Pavilion. Proceeds will benefit Keep Carbondale Beautiful and Green Earth.
