Carbondale has completed the installation of solar panels at three of the city’s properties.
The sites include the Public Safety Center, the Civic Center and the Southwest Wastewater and Treatment Plant.
City Manager Gary Williams says the solar installation is going to save the city a lot of money.
“This project total with three city sites was in excess of 2 million dollars for the installation cost which the city and the Carbondale tax payers paid zero, it was all done from a private company and then we have an agreement with them to purchase energy and then we’re going to realize a savings and have a fixed energy cost for the next twenty years.”
Williams says the arrays at the safety center and treatment plant will provide more power to those sites than they will use.
