The All-Species Puppet Parade returns to in person and a new location for 2022.
On Earth Day, April 22nd the All Species Puppet Parade will take place at Attucks Park in Carbondale at 5pm.
There will be puppet making workshops on the first three Saturdays in April from 10 to 2 and prior to the parade.
The first two are at the Murphysboro Youth Center and the third is at Project Human X in Carbondale.
Co-organizer Cade Bursell says puppet designs range from a basic mask to puppets that take multiple people to carry.
“You know, if you have cardboard and a stick, you can make a puppet.”
Bursell says this event uses art to help people reconnect to nature and help the environment.
“We want to also transform what's left over from our consumption. You know, and so we want to transform that into art, and so we try to use as many recycled objects as we can.”
If you can’t make it to a workshop puppet making tutorials can be found on their website, all species puppet parade dot com.
