SIU is inviting the public and media to its groundbreaking ceremony for the Wildlife Habitat Education Center — a hub for environmental education that encourages hands-on learning and community engagement.
This new facility was made possible through a $3 million gift from SIU alumnus Chuck Trover, an outdoorsman who grew up in rural Illinois.
At the ceremony, SIU Chancellor Austin Lane, SIU Foundation CEO Matt Kupec, Touch of Nature Director Brian Croft, and Chuck Trover will address the gathering.
Guests will enjoy light refreshments and hear more about the vision for this project on August 29 from 4 to 5 p.m. at Touch of Nature Outdoor Education Center in Makanda.
