The American Cancer Society has two Relay For Life events planned the first weekend of June.
Part of the Relay for Life events include a Luminaria Ceremony to honor everyone whose life has been touched by cancer.
The luminaria bags are decorated with the names of someone who’s battling, overcome or lost to cancer and lit with a glow stick.
Bags can be purchased online or from a relay for life participant.
Senior Development Manager Stephanie Smith says selling the luminaria bags is a great way for individuals or teams to fund raise for American Cancer Society.
“Every single year. We can probably get around like three to 500 bags of luminaries set up at the courthouse and at each event. So people it's a great way to donate to the cause and also a great way, you know, like I said, honor and remember those who have been impacted by cancer.”
Jackson County will hold their event June 3rd at the Courthouse starting at 7pm.
On Saturday June 4th Hamilton County will hold their event from 5 to 10 at the Courthouse Square.
