Wigginton, Former U.S. Attorney and SIU Trustee, Arrested for DUI for Third Time

Former U.S. Attorney Steve Wigginton has been charged with driving under the influence for the third time since 2017.

Edwardsville Police Chief Jay Keeven says Wigginton was arrested Thursday. He said more details were expected today (Monday). The court date for his latest charge is Feb. 5.

Wigginton resigned as U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Illinois in 2015. He also served on SIU's Board of Trustees. He was charged with a DUI on New Year's Eve in 2018 and in May 2017.

A message left Sunday for a Wigginton's attorney wasn't immediately returned.
