Federal funding in the FY23 Omnibus Appropriations Act includes 600-thousand dollars in technology upgrades for the Carbondale Police Department.

The CPD reports it will use the funding to upgrade its records management system to better analyze data related to violent crime.

In a written release, Police Chief Stan Reno says a new records management system will improve transparency, create efficiencies, enhance investigative capabilities and streamline the everyday work demands for police officers.
