The parents of an infant who died from serious bodily injuries are charged with First Degree Murder.

The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Tuesday announced the arrests of 21-year-old Logan Hutchings and 21-year-old Sophia Kelly, both of Pinckneyville.

In June of last year, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and the Pinckneyville Police Department called in ISP to investigate serious injuries sustained to a 3-month-old boy.

A St. Louis hospital discovered the infant had a skull fracture, along with multiple rib fractures. The infant died at the hospital two days later.

Prior to the arrival at the hospital, Hutchings and Kelly had been caring for their baby in Pinckneyville.

Prosecutors charged both parents with three counts each of First-Degree Murder.
