A Metropolis man has been sentenced to more than eight years in federal prison for robbing a bank in western Kentucky.

The U.S. attorney for the Western District of Kentucky reports in May 2021, 67-year-old Reginald Thomas entered the FNB Bank branch in Lone Oak wearing gloves and a mask.

He carried a shovel into the bank and demanded money.

He stole over $11,000 and fled to Illinois, where he was later arrested.

There were no injuries during the robbery.
