The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Special Investigations Unit has released more details on the indictment of the former Makanda Township Road Commissioner.

ISP worked with the Jackson County State’s Attorney to bring charges against 70-year-old Danny “DD” Williams of Makanda.

In April, State’s Attorney Joe Cervantez requested an ISP investigation, which identified several instances where Williams used his official position to steer contracts toward a contractor who would pay him in return.

On May 4, the Jackson County Grand Jury indicted Williams on two counts of Pecuniary Interest in Contract and Williams appeared in court on June 14.

His arraignment is set for July 14.
