A U.S. District judge sentenced the final defendant of five total co-conspirators for his involvement in a large-scale methamphetamine operation in southern Illinois.
The U.S. attorney reports 42-year-old Robert Smith of Los Angeles, California, was sentenced to 27 years in federal prison. Smith pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and one count of conspiracy to launder money.
The case involved more than 100 pounds of meth distributed in the Southern District of Illinois.
The four other co-conspirators included 37-year-old Michael Huffman of Salem, 36-year-old Stacey Barkley of Caseyville, 39-year-old William Moore of E. St. Louis and 54-year-old Michael Greene of St. Louis.
According to court documents, DEA agents investigated the defendants for distributing meth in St. Clair County from February to October 2019.
