A woman accused of firing gunshots into the air during a disturbance early Saturday morning in Carbondale also had a Jackson County warrant for battery.

At 3:41 a.m., police officers heard approximately six gunshots from the area of the 400 block of East Hester Street.

They learned two cars left the area at a high rate of speed after being involved in the incident. Officers located and conducted traffic stops on both vehicles.

One of the vehicles was occupied by Quearii Mathis-Jones, who was arrested for Reckless Discharge of a Firearm and for the Battery Warrant.

No one was found to be injured as a result of the incident.
