A local democrat and law professor believes the Mueller report doesn't show enough evidence to charge President Trump with any criminal charges. SIU Law professor and former democratic Lt. Governor Sheila Simon says she hasn't yet had the chance to read the report in its entirety, but from what she has read, she says it's time to move on from the subject.
"I'm disappointed to - to see how some of the things are working inside the White House. Um, I'm glad that we're at a point where I think we can say - and should say, 'Thank you very much, that's the end of the investigation.' And, now let's get on with the business of governing the nation."
Simon, also a former prosecutor, says it's important to line up all the facts of a case and be able to say, 'I know this person is guilty of a crime," and that's when you make the decision to charge someone. But Simon says that standard of evidence is lacking in this report, and there's not enough there to suggest Congress should be pursuing impeachment.
