The Illinois Freedom Caucus is condemning the House passage of Senate Bill 8, calling it a direct attack on law-abiding gun owners.
The group says the legislation creates confusion, legal risks, and unfairly targets hunters, sportsmen, and families exercising their Second Amendment rights.
They also criticize House Democrats for shutting down debate, claiming dozens of speakers were silenced before concerns could be heard.
Chairman Chris Miller calls the bill “reckless and ignorant,” warning that it punishes responsible gun owners instead of addressing real crime. He also says the caucus is committed to challenging this legislation in court.
