A traffic stop has led to a Carbondale teenager facing a more serious charge.

Carbondale Police say Monday evening at around 7:30, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling the wrong way on a one-way street.
During the course of the investigation, officers located an illegal firearm in the vehicle belonging to 18-year-old Aaliyah Lewis-Graham.   Officers arrested Lewis-Graham without incident.

After consulting with the Jackson County States Attorney’s Office, Lewis-Graham was charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and released pending court.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Carbondale Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 618-549-COPS.
