The republican primary field continues to grow for the open seat in southern Illinois' 118th district House seat.
The latest candidate to join the race is Scott Doody from Anna.
Doody is a life-long resident of Union County who says he offers voters decades of real-world experience and a strong work ethic. His current business is restoring classic cars and local media production.
Doody says his career working in private security has offered him insight into public safety, accountability and leadership.
He promises to re-purpose the Tamms Supermax Prison building to bring jobs back to the region, fight to eliminate property taxes on seniors and promote tourism and the film industry in southern Illinois.
Other candidates in the 118th district include Navy veteran and Illinois DOC retiree Chip Markel, entrepreneur Harold Visser and political strategist Joe DeBose.
The Primary Election is March 17th.
