A 3rd Bomb Threat Called Into Continental Tire

Building

A third bomb threat in a week has been called into Continental Tire in Mt. Vernon.

Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department were called back to the facility just after 3:30 Tuesday afternoon. The Illinois Secretary of State Bomb Squad was also called back and took over the search of the building. Continental Tire staff worked on, making sure employees were safe.

Company officials say to ensure the safety of their employees, they will implement stronger safety measures, which will mean workers will need to be prepared for delays entering the facility.

A 5-thousand dollar reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those
making the bomb threats.

Anyone with information about the threats should contact the Jefferson County Sheriff's office or Crime Stoppers at 618-242-8477.
