There were no major injuries after a group of Marion Junior High School students were struck Wednesday morning by what is believed to be airsoft pellets from a passing vehicle while on the track during PE class.

The Marion Unit 2 School District reports on its social media pages all 31 students involved were seen by the school nurse and parents were contacted.

School leaders say local law enforcement was notified immediately and a suspected vehicle was identified.

As a precautionary measure all Marion Unit 2 students remain inside the buildings until law enforcement issues an all clear communication to all of the schools.
