Ameren Illinois and Missouri alerts customers of scammers preying on residents without power after Sunday's snow storm.

They may also pose as Ameren employees using fake phone numbers or copying account information to legitimize their calls.

Scammers might try to create a sense of urgency when contacting customers to intimidate them into making payments.

They may also create search engine listings that include fake Ameren phone numbers.

Along with these tactics, solar panel installation scams have been on the rise.

Ameren asks customers to request call-back numbers from calls demanding immediate payment.

Once the call-back number is received, call Ameren Illinois at 1-800-755-5000 or Ameren Missouri at 1-800-552-7583.
