On this day 1929 US President Calvin Coolidge establishes Grand Teton National Park.

Locally,

Marion Connects, a local not-for-profit organization, is putting on the first ever Southern Illinois Taco Festival on Friday, March 1st, at 6 pm at Celebrations Event Center in Marion. The event will feature a selection of meats and salsas from local restaurants, giving ticket holders the chance to try a variety of tacos in one place. In Carbondale, the annual SIU Sibs & Kids Fun Day is on Saturday, March 2nd from 11am to 2pm at the SIU Student Center and is free for children and families of SIU students. Enjoy inflatables, bingo, yard games, bowling, food & more.

The 2nd Annual Saluki Ball will be on Saturday, April 20 at The Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk Hosted by Chancellor Austin Lane & Mrs. Loren Lane. The Saluki Ball is dedicated to raising funds that bridge the financial gap for students.
