ON THIS DAY in 1941 Walt Disney's animated film "Dumbo" was released.
Survivor Empowerment Center will host its annual Take Back the Night event tomorrow night from 6 to 8pm at Turley Park in Carbondale. Organizers say it will be the highlight of activities planned this year for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. In addition to survivor testimonies, live music and sing-alongs, this year’s event will also feature a community art project. For more information visit the Survivor Empowerment Center Facebook page. In Massac County, Fort Massac State Park is hosting a Trunk or Treat Saturday night from 4-8 p.m. There will be a costume contest at 4 p.m. and free hot dogs for participants.

In Marion, ThrillHouse Entertainment & Events is hosting a job fair to build its launch team ahead of its grand opening this winter. The job fair will take place at Kokopelli Golf Course and will feature on-site interviews for a wide range of positions including bar & restaurant staff, game & activity attendants, customer service reps, and management positions. The job fair is TODAY from 9am to 6pm. Applicants are encouraged to bring a current résumé, dress professionally, and be prepared for interviews.

Carbondale Public Library is hosting another Crafternoon next month. They invite you to make your own felt woodland garland! All materials and instructions will be provided. Best for ages 8+, children under 10 must be with an adult. November 2nd from 2-4pm.
