Carbondale NAACP to hold a fundraising banquet on Oct. 26

The Carbondale NAACP hosts its 48th Freedom Fund Celebration next weekend.

The event will recognize community leadership, highlighted by the 2025 Community Impact Award to Chasity Mays. Keynote remarks come from Illinois State Conference NAACP President Theodis Pace, a longtime Kankakee civic leader and retired Illinois Department of Human Services administrator with decades of youth coaching and advocacy.

The event will take place this coming Sunday, October 26 at 4 p.m. at the Carbondale Civic Center.
