Add State Representative Dave Severin to the list of southern Illinois lawmakers calling for the resignation of SIU President Randy Dunn.
The Benton republican released a statement Friday saying he feels Dunn has lost the confidence of the University community and the region at large. Severin does not agree with what he calls the poor choice of words by the president to describe those in disagreement with him on the possible transfer of millions away from the Carbondale campus.
Severin said the revelation of a plan to separate the SIU campuses and divert over $5 million away from the Carbondale Campus is not a wise move for the long-term well-being of the University.
Representatives Terri Bryant and Natalie Phelps-Finnie have also called for Dunn to step down.
