On a recent edition of SIU President Dan Mahony’s Office Hours podcast, he explored the impact and experiences of international students on the SIU campuses and their communities.
The topic of international students on college campuses has received a lot of attention recently because there was a significant decline in international student enrollment across the country, primarily due to visa application difficulties, including delays and denials. The decline across the SIU system has been about 15 percent.
President Mahony sat down with SIU faculty who first came to the U.S. as international students.
Elza Ibroscheva from Bulgaria and Jeb Asirvatham from India have since become leaders, researchers, and mentors across SIU campuses.
They share what surprised them most about life in the U.S…starting with Elza.
