The mental health of farmers is often affected by stress from debt, production costs, equipment and employee management, plus more. Unfortunately, farmers living in rural communities may internalize these struggles and not reach out for help.

"Fielding Resistance" is a one-hour webinar designed to help rural community members recognize potential issues affecting health-care in farming regions.

Dr. Nick Weshinskey and agricultural resource specialist Karen Stallman will also discuss ways to better support the farming workforce. The webinar will go into the challenges faced by agricultural workers and their families, ways to identify mental health issues, and will highlight available resources.

The SIU Medicine Center is holding the service as part of the Farm Family Resource Initiative. The webinar begins at noon on Thursday, November 2. More information is available by clicking here.
