The SIU-Carbondale administration and the bargaining team from the Faculty Association have released an official joint statement on progress made since they began meeting in late February on a new contract.
The two sides say they have had many open discussions about topics ranging from office hours to academic freedom.
They say they have made progress on a number of issues. They include a new student engagement policy that they believe will more fully meet the needs of students and provide faculty with appropriate flexibility.
The teams say they have started a discussion of economic issues and they continue to meet regularly to make progress towards a new contract.
