The latest Saluki Takeover will be a home game of sorts for leaders at SIU-Carbondale.

After trips to places such as Chicago, Nashville and Florida, this event will center on southern Illinois.

SIU-Carbondale Chancellor Austin Lane calls this the capstone takeover.

"This is another example of how we're red-carpeting the region with students that are right here locally, showing them how much we want them to select us."

The Southern Illinois takeover kicks off April 24 and runs through May 1.

After traveling to 20 high schools and community colleges in 17 counties, the event concludes at Walker's Bluff Casino Resort on May 4. This is where students who have decided to attend SIU-Carbondale for the fall semester will be recognized.
