A graduate of SIU-Carbondale is helping his alma mater take the first steps toward adding a state-of-the-art fountain to Campus Lake.
The late Tilden “Tim” Parks, Class of 1976, has gotten the ball rolling on the installing the fountain. Now, the the SIU Foundation is seeking an additional $30,000 to see the project through to the goal of $145,000 dollars.
School officials say this fountain will not only enhance the lake's beauty but will also help circulate the water, preventing harmful algal blooms.
On average, 1,500 visitors each week enjoy the 43-acre lake and its surroundings.
