Clarence Rupert (4) celebrates with the crowd after defeating Indiana State 74-69.

One of the Saluki men's basketball players has used the transfer portal to move back closer to home.

Clarence Rupert is leaving the Midwest to return closer to his Philadelphia roots and enroll at Iona College in New Rochelle, New York.

Iona is in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, the same conference as Rupert's first school at St. Peter's.

The 6-8 forward started 30 games for SIU last season and averaged 7.5 points and nearly 6 rebounds per game...both career highs.
