An SIU student displays some of the food items available at the Saluki Food Pantry to help meet students’ physical and mental needs.

The Saluki Food Pantry continues to provide valuable support for students even during the summer months and welcomes donations of a wide variety of nonperishable food items to accomplish that mission.

Supplies of these items are especially low:

  • spaghetti/tomato sauce.
  • pasta (spaghetti, linguine, fettuccine, etc.)
  • canned chicken and tuna.
  • white rice.
  • chicken ramen noodles.

The pantry set a record during the 2023-2024 academic year, distributing nearly 20,000 food items to 549 students, so the need to restock is especially great.

Drop off donations in the Student Center administrative office, located on the second floor, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Alternatively, email foodpantry@siu.edu to arrange pickup. Online giving opportunities are available as well through the SIU Foundation.

As a WSIU donor, you don’t simply watch or listen to public media programs, you are a partner. By making a gift, you help WSIU produce, purchase, and broadcast programs you care about and enjoy – every day of the year.
