Southern Illinois University Carbondale is set to welcome students back to campus with an exciting lineup of events designed to foster community and ease the transition into the new academic year. The Dawg Days New Student Retreat at Touch of Nature offers a range of activities from outdoor adventures to networking opportunities, aimed at helping new students adjust to college life and build connections. Move-in days will provide over 2,800 students with smooth and supportive relocation to their campus residences, enhanced by volunteers and amenities like water stations and popsicles.
The inaugural Taste of Carbondale will give students a taste of local cuisine and help them familiarize themselves with the city's dining scene. Saluki Startup, a series of events aimed at creating a welcoming environment, will feature highlights such as Light Up the Lake, Saluki Kickoff, and Dawg’s Nite Out. These activities are designed to build excitement and encourage student engagement.
