Southern Illinois University Carbondale is now accepting nominations for its prestigious 2025 Honorary Degree and Distinguished Service Awards.

These honors are awarded to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional contributions in their field or have made significant impacts on society, with a focus on scholarly achievements or notable service to Southern Illinois, the state, or the university itself.

The Honorary Degree is reserved for individuals of outstanding renown in any area of expertise, while the Distinguished Service Award recognizes significant contributions that have benefited the region or university.

These awards are a highlight of SIU’s commencement ceremonies and celebrate individuals whose work has led to a meaningful impact on the community and beyond.

Nominations must include a 2-3 page resume, curriculum vitae, or biographical sketch of the candidate, along with a detailed description of their unique contributions.

Additional materials, such as letters of recommendation or copies of representative works, may be requested after the initial submission.

To submit a nomination or for any inquiries, please contact Sarah VanVooren, Director of Events and Outreach, at svanvoo@siu.edu, or reach out to Courtney Crafton, Committee Support Staff, at the Office of the Chancellor.

Completed nominations should be submitted to Anthony Hall, SIU Carbondale, no later than Wednesday, October 16, 2024.
