SIU and community leaders break ground on the new Tedrick Welcome and Philanthropy Center near the site of the old McAndrew Stadium

SIU and community leaders gathered today to break ground at the site of the future home of the Tedrick Welcome and Philanthropy Center on the Carbondale campus.

The building is named after Roger Tedrick, a graduate of SIU-Carbondale and longtime member of the SIU Board of Trustees.

SIU President Dan Mahony says this building is being constructed to be the first stop for prospective Salukis, with open houses, campus tours and more originating from this building.

SIU-Carbondale Chancellor Austin Lane says prospective students will be blown away by this new structure and it'll help seal the deal in them becoming Salukis.

The structure is going up near the site of the old McAndrew Stadium.

Construction on the Tedrick Welcome Center is expected to be completed by May 2026.
