Chicago’s New Millionaire: Mega Millions Winner Claims $1M Prize

Chicago is buzzing with excitement as a local resident has won $1 million in the latest Mega Millions drawing.

The winning ticket, which matched all five numbers (6-23-42-59-63) but missed the Mega Ball, was purchased at Gas Express in the Bridgeport neighborhood on 31st Street.

This marks the store’s second major lottery win in 2024, following a $400,000 Lucky Day Lotto ticket in April.

Faris Saleh, the owner of Gas Express, couldn’t contain his excitement, sharing, “Luck is definitely in the air! It’s thrilling to know our store sold another big winner.”

For their role in selling the ticket, the store earned a $10,000 bonus. Saleh plans to celebrate with his employees and use the funds to upgrade the station.

With the Mega Millions jackpot now soaring to $800 million, anticipation is building for Tuesday night’s drawing.

Illinois Lottery officials are reminding all winners to write their name on the back of the ticket and store it safely.

Winners have one year from the drawing date to claim their prize.

This $1 million win makes it the seventh time this year that an Illinois player has won $1 million or more in Mega Millions.

Illinois continues to prove itself as a lucky state for lottery players.
