The monthly justice is held in Carbondale.

The Peace Coalition of Southern Illinois is holding their monthly Peace and Justice Vigil tomorrow from noon to one pm at the corner of Main and Illinois Ave in Carbondale.

Member Georgeann Hartzog said the group is calling on US leaders to turn to diplomacy and de-escalation in the ongoing conflict with Russia over Ukraine, rather than engaging in rhetoric that raises tensions.

"So we're just really concerned that either purposefully or by accident this conflict could get into a shooting war and for one thing that would be very bad for the Ukrainian people," she said.

The vigil will include social distancing and the organizers ask that attendees wear a mask.
