A southern Illinois manufacturer is expanding.
Aisin Electronics in Marion is building a 108-thousand square foot expansion. The company is expected to add 80-jobs. Aisin Electronics manufactures automotive control systems for such things as sunroofs and power sliding doors. The expansion is being funded in part through a mix of workforce education and tax incentives.
Governor Pat Quinn was scheduled to attend the announcement, but canceled half an hour before he was scheduled to appear. Quinn has been criticized in recent weeks for ignoring southern Illinois and not making any appearances in the far southern part of the state. A spokesperson for the Governor says he had to be in Springfield today for legislative meetings.
