The 2013 Murphysboro Apple Festival is in full swing.
This year the festival runs through Saturday evening. Festival General Chairman Shawn Sterns says they have some new family-friendly entertainment... including a number of free concerts. The Apple Festival is in its 62nd year. Stearns says its one of the longest running street festivals. Sterns says the Apple Festival takes great pride in the fact that the festival is completely family friendly.
Friday evening the annual apple peeling contest takes place at 6:30p.m.
Saturday's events include the annual Apple parade at 11:00 a.m., the drums competition at 4:30p.m., and the festival concludes with the Miss Apple Pageant at 8:00 p.m. A complete Apple Festival schedule is available here.
