Governor J.B. Pritzker and other state officials held their daily COVID-19 press conference to announce new cases and deaths and ask for help with getting more supplies to protect against the virus.

There are now 1,285 cases of COVID-19 cases in the state. The newest county to announce a confirmed case was Monroe County. Officials say there have been three new deaths from the virus, bringing the state's total to 12.

Pritzker says he has  linked together the state’s manufacturers and biotech industries to boost production of medical supplies.

Manufacturers in both industries were asked to focus production on essentials such as N95 masks, gloves, gowns, ventilators and sanitizer.

The governor is asking for nail salons, tattoo parlors and other non-essential businesses that are closed at this time to donate their P-P-E supplies to the state.
