Carbondale Death Investigation Underway

A death investigation is underway in Carbondale.

Carbondale Police received a report of a stabbing and a vehicle theft from the 500 block of East Sycamore Street just before 3am on Sunday morning.

The stabbing victim, now identified as 31-year-old Traeshonne Blythe of Carbondale, was taken to the emergency room in a personal vehicle before police arrived. They later learned Blythe died due to those injuries.

The original reporting party reported to officers they received a non-life-threatening gunshot wound during the same altercation in which the stabbing and vehicle theft occurred.

All of the involved parties are identified and there are no known ongoing threats to the public.

This investigation is active and ongoing.
